I came to a fork in the road. What's next? Lunch with Dave, a season of prayer and Bible study resulted in my application to Reliant.
Reliant is a Christ-centered nonprofit sending missionaries to 29 countries. The application took months with rounds of interviews / references. At times I doubted my decision. Prayer and spousal support nudged me down the path. Sometimes doing the right thing is harder than leaving right things undone.
The right thing for me to do is live out my life's mission. I hear God calling me to use the Gospel to serve human populations at the intersection of faith and public health. Reliant and the Voice of Power Deliverance Ministry are equipping me to complete my mission.

Months after lunches with Dave and Damon, I jumped on an airplane to begin the great adventure of life as a Reliant missionary. Reliant partners with churches and Christ-centered nonprofits to obey Jesus' last words to believers:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Reliant Training Group, June 2018 |
Jesus's last words are known as the Great Commission. At Reliant training, I met a group of 28 men and women striving to obey Jesus's words too! I was the oldest trainee in our group and was warmly received by young adults that are convinced God still cares about the state of affairs. Serving alongside each of my fellow missionaries is a privilege.
I saw a fork in the road and asked God, "What's next?" God sent people to listen while I asked and found answers to the question.
